The Alice Johnson Jennings Library

North Star is proud to house the Alice Johnson Jennings Library: 800+ books (plus some dvds and cds), all celebrating & focusing on LGBTQ life. Visit the Center to browse the shelves, or search our fully digitized catalog by title, author, keyword, and hundreds of tags (to create an account on the catalog and check items out, please visit the Center in person).

The library first opened in September 2013. We now have: a large fiction section (everything from romance to murder mysteries to literary fiction to queer classics); a teen/YA shelf with fiction and nonfiction; numerous children’s books; many biographies and memoirs; small sections for comics, theater, and poetry; and various nonfiction books, including resources for folks exploring a new identity or seeking to be a better ally.

Library Wish List

Donate a book to help us expand our Library resources in needed areas, including books for young people, books focused on BTQIAP+ identities, and books for parents of LGBTQ kids. Browse our Amazon Wish List (kids books are at the top of the list, then YA books, then adult books at the bottom), purchase one of the books listed, and select North Star as the delivery location.

Every book helps us offer up-to-date, desired reading materials to the whole community – thank you!
