Kailas Coleman, Program Manager

Hi North Star community! My name is Kailas Coleman (he/him/his) and I am excited to serve the community as Program Manager! I graduated from Western Carolina University in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Parks and Recreation Management, with a focus in Outdoor Leadership. I also studied Adventure Education at Pädagogische Hochschule Ludwigsburg in Germany. I’m passionate about spending time outdoors and creating inclusive spaces for everyone to thrive in. In my free time you can find me with a book in my hand or lost in creating art. I’m a huge soccer fan, and have played and refereed for years. I’m always open to learn new things and I look forward to meeting each of you and working closely with the youth!

Torie Zeiner, Administrator

Hi, I’m Torie Zeiner and I am very excited to join the North Star community as the Center Administrator. I grew up in a small, country town in Indiana before earning my BA from Franklin College in Franklin, Indiana. Before moving to Winston-Salem, North Carolina I worked for a logistics company in Indianapolis as a customer service team lead. I have always felt a draw toward community-building and crisis care, which brought me to Wake Forest School of Divinity, where I graduate in May of 2020. Before joining the team at North Star, I was the Coordinator and Volunteer Coordinator at a volunteer run food pantry in Winston-Salem and also served as a hospital chaplain at UNC Medical Center. I have a passion for LGBTQ+ representation and inclusion in religious life and am pursuing ordination with the Alliance of Baptist church. I live with my partner, Audrey, and our sweet pup Theo and can likely be found camping around North Carolina on the weekends or trying new food. I am extroverted and love meeting new people. I am excited about getting to know all our current volunteers and their strengths and interests in supporting our LGBTQ+ community. I look forward to being North Star’s first layer of support as soon as folks reach out or visit the Center, sharing with them our radical hospitality.
